ABOUT TERE LIYE

Tere Liye is one of the great authors who wrote Bumi series, which are the targeted novels of the reviews on this blog. While knowing the works, it’ll be better if we also come closer to seek about the great author of it. Thus, this part is the introduction section for you who do not know about Tere Liye yet.

Tere Liye was born in Lahat, South Sumatra on the 21st of May 1979. Many readers thought, at first, Tere Liye was a woman; in fact, he actually is a man whose real name Darwis. Tere Liye had his childhood in his hometown in Lahat, living as the sixth out of seven children in his farmer family. For academic history, Tere Liye got his elementary school in SDN 2 Kikim Timur, went to SMPN 2 Kikim for middle school, and was moving to Lampung to get graduated from his high school in SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung.

Most people who read his works would guess he had a background as a graduate of literature science. It was based on his capability in Indonesian literature to produce tens of bestseller novels. Instead, he was an accounting graduate from The University of Indonesia. He is even working as an accountant in one of the Indonesian companies. Tere Liye also has a wife named Riski Amelia and two children named Abdullah Pasai and Faizah Azkia.

Even though his private life is limitedly published, Tere Liye is quite honourable in Indonesian literature. It is because Tere Liye has created more than 50 works in his life. Bumi series is just one series out of the pile of titles he had written. Besides, he also wrote other novels in various genres and series, and some of his writing even had been adapted into films. Hereby some Tere Liye’s works are categorised by their series. Some of them were even republished with different titles and modified content.

Not only productive, but Tere Liye has been also an approved author by Indonesian literature. Furthermore, some of his novels have got achievements in some awards in past. They are Rindu in Islamic Book Award 2016 as The Best Islamic Adult Fiction Book (Buku Islami Terbaik Fiksi Dewasa) and Tentang Kamu in the same award and the same category in the next year (2017). Tere Liye himself got achieved an award as Author of The Year in IKAPI Award in 2016.
